Abdallah Mubiru put his former employers KCCA FC to the sword on Friday evening at MTN-Omondi Stadium as both teams closed off the first round of the 2025/26 season.

The gaffer who is currently at Entebbe UPPC guided the team to a 1-0 win over the Lugogo based side.

It should be noted that Mubiru has been a coach at KCCA on two separate occasions , the last stint coming between 2023-2025.

Additionally, UPPC’s starting XI had four former KCCA players; Julius Poloto, Steven Munguchi, Mustafa Mujjuzi and Isa Mubiru.

In a closely contested affair, Ambrose Kigozi’s solitary strike at the end of the first half was enough to secure all three points for the Printers.

Right from the start, the game was end to end and both teams ably competed.

It was KCCA FC who first came out of the blocks, in the ninth minute, when a melee happened inside UPPC’s box but the visitors were able to deal with it. Four minutes later, Musitafa Mujjuzi nearly caused trouble for visitors with his backpass not reaching goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa but Shafik Nana instead shoot into the legs of the goalie.

The first chance for Entebbe UPPC arrived in the 24th minute with Muhammad Kyeyune attempting from distance but goalkeeper Charles Lukwago was equal to the effort.

The game kept oscillating in terms of possession with either side getting in control of proceedings.

In the 36th minute, Ivan Ahimbisibwe fired over the crossbar when Lazaro Bwambale made a good overlap on the right and teed up a cutback pass for the former.

Four minutes later, KCCA got another chance but a miscommunication between Ahimbisbwe and Shafik Nana Kwikiriza saw the opportunity put to waste.

A free kick delivery from Joel Sserunjogi was put back into the goal-mouth by Sammy Ssebaduka and Ahimbisibwe calmly controlled the ball, beat off a UPCC defender but when he stretched to shoot, Kwikiriza was quicker to the ball only to shoot wide.

The deadlock was eventually broken at the stroke of halftime with Ambrose Kigozi firing the visitors into the lead.

Left back Isa Mubiru floated a long pass behind the KCCA FC backline and Kigozi calmy controlled the ball before firing it past onrushing goalkeeper Charles Lukwago.

Upon restart, KCCA FC started the better side with Ssebaduka getting close in the 56th minute but his headed attempt hit goalkeeper Omedwa in the chest.

A few minutes later, Ssebaduka made a good run on the left, laid up a good pass but Ahimbisibwe who was right infront of goal miscued a header.

On the other end, UPCC had an opportunity to double the advantage when Kyeyune rounded off goalkeeper Lukwago and made a cutback but there was no one to connect home.

In the 66th minute, KCCA FC had another chance to level matters, first through Ahimbisibwe but his effort was blocked by Ahmed Amayo and Saidi Mayanja blasted the rebound wide.

Despite efforts in the closing minutes from KCCA, the visitors defended resiliently to take maximun points.

The result means Entebbe UPPC dispense KCCA FC from second place but both teams are level on 30 points.
