  • Maroons 0-1 Kitara
  • Police 2-1 Lugazi
  • Mbarara City 1-0 Calvary

John Byaruhanga’s first-half strike was the difference as Kitara secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Maroons in the Uganda Premier League encounter.

In the game played at Prison Grounds in Luzira, the Royals ended the Maroons’ long home run, since they had last lost at home in April 2025.

Kitara started the game with a smile after learning of the update that they had been awarded three points from the walkover against Vipers SC.

The game started slowly as both sides struggled to find the right or needed momentum.

Byaruhanga broke the deadlock in the 36th minute of the game. It was a debatable scenario since Norman Odipio thought he had cleared the ball before crossing the line.

The hosts tried to respond immediately but were not sharp enough in the final third where it mattered the most.

In the second stanza, the tempo further fell as the Royals suited up to handle the pressure and bag maximum points on the day.

Ivan Asaba’s late cameo flashed brilliance as the forward pushed the ball upfront but his effort was late and hardly gave the hosts anything positive.

The victory takes Kitara to the second position with 32 points while Maroons lie 18 points after 16 league games.
