KCCA co-head coach Brian Ssenyondo is aware of the club’s need to end a trophy drought and has termed all second-round matches as finals.

The Kasasiro face off with NEC in a Lugogo derby on the resumption of the league and must win to close in on leaders Vipers and second placed Kitara.

With 30 points, six and five behind toppers Vipers and second placed Kitara respectively, the 13-time champions can’t afford to drop more points.

“We have 15 finals and if we win all them, it means we will be champions at the end of the season,” said Ssenyondo in a pre-match briefing.

On the game against tenants at Lugogo, the ex-Kitara coach is aware of the threat they pose but is adamant his side will do all it takes to win.

“It is a tough game but we want to come back stronger after what happened towards the end of the first round and start on the high note,” he explained.

NEC is arguably the biggest side in the transfer window at the moment with several signings and how they intend to line up remains a mystery.

However, Ssenyondo prefers to concentrate on his side than spending time worrying about the opponents’ squad.

“We are not sure of the team they will put out because they have made some additions but we look at ourselves and we shall aim to play well and try to win.”

A win for KCCA under the lights will also mean they complete their maiden double over NEC after they clinched victory in the reverse fixture 2-1 with Said Mayanja getting the goals.

Meanwhile, NEC head coach Badru Kaddu, formerly at KCCA during their most successful spell under Mike Mutebi has decisions to make on whether to field new acquisitions or not.

Richard Basangwa, Muhammad Ssenoga, Rashid Kawawa, Tony Atukunda and Hakim Wandera are all reported to have joined the club in this window.

NEC are also desperate to win and improve in the second round after they were abysmal in the first round as they collected only 20 points and sit 7th on the table.
