Kitara Football Club marched to the round of 16 stage in the ongoing 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup competition.
The Royals overcame a spirited Entebbe UPPC 2-0 at the Royal Park in Butema during a round of 32 duel played on Tuesday, 24th February 2026.
George Ssenkaaba and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa scored in either half of the evening contest.
Before Ssenkaaba’s opening goal in the 32nd minute, the visitors had defended gallantly and were unfortunate not to find a breakthrough after near misses by the league’s top scorer, Ambrose Kigozi, and new signing Samuel Nsubuga.
The start of the second stanza witnessed Kitara making a double change when Hussein Ssenoga and Wasswa came in for Gadafi Wahabu and Frank Tumwesigye, respectively.
Wasswa buried the game beyond the reach of the visiting contingent with 10 minutes left on the clock.
Kitara, winners of the same competition in the 2023-2024 season, held onto the slim lead to advance to the round of 16, where they join Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club.
KCCA overcame Mbarara City 1-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, with captain Filbert Obenchan scoring a beautiful diving header.
The Uganda Cup continues on Tuesday night when cup holders Vipers host Pajule Lions at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Meanwhile, Kitara and Entebbe UPPC will again face off next Tuesday (3rd March 2026) at the Royal Park in Butema in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The winner of the Uganda Cup earns a ticket to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.
