Overview:
Dr Jackson Were is preident of Uganda Golf Union for 2026-2028. Paul Rukundo, the interim Board chairman of Uganda Golf Club is the new vice president with Adoch Luwum as the Honorary Secretary. Annettee Kiconco will serve as Treasurer. There are two committee members; Paul Habyarimana and NJ Paul (captain of Lugazi Hills and Country Club). The Uganda Golf Union Trustees include Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon. Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, former UGU president Amos Nzeyi and the Africa Golf Confederation boss Johnson Omollo.
Dr. Jackson Were is back as president for Uganda Golf Union (UGU) for the tenure 2026 to 2028.
This followed a successful elective assembly held at Entebbe Club on Friday, 27th February 2026.
The incumbent Were tallied 16 votes, five better than Joseph Okudi as Anthony Agaba recorded two votes.

Agaba has been serving as vice president and Okudi as an executive committee member.
Moments after the polls, Were expressed delight in being entrusted with another mandate to run the Uganda Golf Union.
“The process of elections will always produce a winner and a loser, but for the sake of the game, it is imperative that we work together. We shall work with every one willing to transform the game.” The former captain of Mbarara Golf Club noted.

The opening task for the new leadership team will be the Victoria Cup which tees off on Thursday at the Entebbe par-71 course.
