Vipers Sports Club restored their four-point lead at the summit of the Uganda Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Mbarara City at Rwamwanja Stadium on Saturday, 7th March 2026.
Arafat Usama Kiza and Yunus Sentamu scored for the Venoms in either half.
Tom Kakaire got the consolation for the home side, christened as the “Ankole Lions”.
Usama tapped home inside the goal area in the 18th minute after Milton Karisa’s decent cut back as Vipers took the lead.
Kakaire equalized for Mbarara City in the 66th minute with a stunning strike from 25 yards past goalkeeper Dennis Kiggundu.
Karisa assisted for the second time during the game with substitute Sentamu finishing past goalkeeper Derrick Emukule at the back post in the 85th minute.
Sentamu had replaced midfielder Joseph Marvin Youngman in the 74th minute, during one of the two double changes as Enock Ssebagala was rested for Odili Chukwuma.
Vipers secured their 13th victory of the season in 19 outings, bringing their total to 44 points, four ahead of second-placed Kitara.
Kitara was held to a 1-all draw by Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) at Bombo on Friday.
Mbarara City subsequently suffered their 10th loss as they remain in the 13th position on 15 points.
Meanwhile, league debutants Entebbe UPPC and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) shared the spoils after a goalless draw on a very slippery lakeside Fisheries Institute playground in Bugonga, Entebbe Division A.
