Kumi University players celebrate one of their four goals against IUIU in Mbale city

Kumi University recorded a resounding 4-2 victory on the road away to IUIU in Mbale during Group E of the 2025/26 Pepsi University Football League on Tuesday, 10th March 2026.

Nathan Walwasa scored a brace as Simon Olupot and Christopher Nyongesa added one goal apiece in the commanding victory.

IUIU’s goals came from Ramathan Osama (own goal) and Rodger Kiggundu.

The hosts took the lead through Osama’s own goal under the opening 60 seconds of the game, for arguably the fast goal of the season in the Pepsi University Football League.

Kumi University found the equalizer through Nyongesa in the 47th minute and Walwasa struck a penalty five minutes later to establish a lead 2-1.

Kiggundu brought the game level with a strike towards the hour mark.

Walwasa regained Kumi University’s lead in the 74th minute at 3-2 and Olupot buried the game in the visitors’ favour with a goal three minutes to full time.

Kumi University is now joint second on the standings in group E with 8 points, just like Ndejje University.

Leaders Makerere University have 9 points coming to the final bend of the season.

Meanwhile, Busitema University held Nkumba University to a 1-all stalemate during Group C.

Flying left back Ismael Lubega put Nkumba University the lead with a well struck penalty in the 8th minute.

Jordan Othieno struck the equalizer in the 70th minute after Shannon Owino’s donkey-work.

Busitema earned their first point in the campaign an Nkumba Univeristy now has 4 points from 3 matches.

Ndejje University humiliated King Ceasor University 4-0 in Group E last Saturday.

Joseph Mutaka scored a brace as Joel Olupot and Frank Ssemakula added a goal apiece.

Olupot put the visiting side ahead in the 26th minute. Mutaka doubled the scores two minutes after the half hour mark and completed his brace two minutes later as Ndejje University led the opening stanza 3-0.

In the second half, Ssemakula scored with 14 minutes left to play to earn maximum points.

These was Ndejje University’s second victory of the season as they remain unbeaten and make it 8 points, one shy from the leaders Makerere University in Group E.

King Ceasor remains win-less in four games, having lost all the games.

Rare double header:

Wednesday, 11th March 2026 has a double header in Lira and Gulu cities.

Lira University hosts MUBS in Lira and Gulu University will square up against St Lawrence University in Gulu city.

This league has over the years given a viable platform to university students express themselves on the football field, as they develop their talents.
