Kitara put up a brilliant performance to edge SC Villa as the two sides faced off on Thursday at the Royals, Park Butema.

Two first-half goals from Patrick Kaddu and Yunus Sibira ensured the Royals cruised to a 2-0 win.

The win meant Kitara moved back to the second position on 54 points, five behind leaders Vipers with four games to the end of the season.

Kitara and Villa came into today’s game level on points and both needed to win to cut the gap on runaway leaders Vipers, who drew 1-1 against KCCA on Wednesday.

From the onset, Kitara seemed the hungrier side and ended up getting maximum points to keep their slim title hopes alive.

Kaddu broke the deadlock in the 28th minute before combative midfielder Sibira doubled the advantage at the stroke of halftime.

Despite efforts by Villa to come back into the game, the Royals proved hard to crack and held onto the scoreline.

Kitara’s final four games will see them take on NEC at home, visit Express and BUL before ending the season at home against Police.
