Uganda U20 Women’s Football National Team will have to wait for another window to be at the World Cup, after agonisingly getting eliminated by Ghana on Saturday.
The return leg played at FUFA Stadium – Kadiba ended in a one-all draw, hence meaning Ghana progressed to the World Cup 3-2 on aggregate.
The Ghana Princesses had to do it with a player less for the final 20 minutes, following the sending off of defender Margaret Agyapomaa after stamping on Peace Muduwa’s leg.
Sylvia Kabene had given Uganda an early lead, just seven minutes after kickoff, off her deflected effort, but the Ghanians battled back to level matters through captain Linda Owusu’s free kick.
Despite efforts from Uganda in the closing minutes, Ghana defended resolutely to see out the result and seal World Cup qualification for an eighth consecutive time.
The 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup will take place in Poland between 5th and 23rd September.
