Besides sports (talent promotion and advocacy), Hon. Babirye’s other key elements will entail ensuring that the people in Bukoto East have access to clean water, electricity, get the best use of the Government projects of government, good road system, health, education and a handsome payback to the local citizenry.
Sarah Babirye Kityo was officially sworn in as a Member of Parliament in the 12th Parliament, representing the people of Bukoto East in Masaka.
Honourable Babirye bounced back to the law-making house, having previously served in the 10th Parliament (as youth MP for Central Uganda) but missed out in the 11th Parliament.
At the time she was out of Parliament, Babirye served as the President of the Uganda Netball Federation between 2021 and 2023.

Now back in Parliament, she has vowed to remain a very solid ‘loud’ voice for Uganda’s sports industry in Parliament.
Babirye promises to fight all related injustices and push for better accountability and support for sports federations and athletes.

Addressing family members, friends and voters from Bukoto East at her residence in Maya (off Masaka Road), Babirye hinted about her unequalled love for sports.
I support sports, no doubt in that and I am back to represent my team at Parliament and not only play for the parliament but also to make sure that I plan for sports.
During my tenure in netball, I reached out to a number of MPs but they were fearing to talk about the injustices in the industry, so me who doesn’t fear any, here I am.
I am going to be the voice for sports, with netball I will be inviting you again and tell you our next step when it comes to netball.

Besides sports (talent promotion and advocacy), Babirye’s other key elements will entail ensuring that the people in Bukoto East have access to clean water, electricity, get the best use of the Government projects, a good road system, health, education and a handsome payback to the local citizenry.

She will also front women’s empowerment, protection of all vulnerable people in the community, agricultural promotion, especially coffee and others.
Babirye is also a valuable asset to the Uganda Parliamentary Sports team as she plays Netball, Volleyball, Basketball and Golf, and she is expected to add her voice to the sports development policies.

In 2024, Hon. Kityo won the Blueprint for Free Speech whistle-blowing Award, which came as recognition for fighting corruption in the Ugandan sports sector.
Besides international recognition, Babirye also got a special plaque and a cash prize of £2000 (about Ugx 8,400,000).
