St.Peter’s RFC and Ugandan Rugby player Phillip Pariyo will be out of action for his welsh club for four weeks following an injury he sustained on Saturday.
Pariyo was taken off in St. Peter’s RFC’s 06-14 quarter final away cup win against Pontyclun and taken to University Hospital of Wales, where the doctors revealed that it would take him a month of full recovery to return for his side.
Pariyo started the match, suffered the injury in the 30th minute, got strapped assuming it was just a minor one. He continued playing and fortunately scored a try in the 76th minute to seal the win.
“We were playing against a team called Pontyclun away and it was a cup quarter finals, so I started the game and got injured in the fast 30minutes,” he told Kawowo Sports.
“I was strapped thinking it was a minor injury and I continued to play. According to the doctor it was a ligament that was stretched and its on my left knee but according to his statement he said I will be back in a month time.”
The former Toyoya Buffaloes player left hospital on Sunday evening. He says the club physio is doing all what it takes for a possible quick and early recovery.
“The club physio is also working hard on my injury to make me better soon and back on pitch,” he added.
Pariyo and colleague Benon Kiiza were signed by St. Peter’s in early February this year, following their failure to make it back to Uganda with the Uganda Sevens Rugby team that traveled for the Commonwealth games in Glasgow, Scotland last August.

The duo have since settled and moved on at St. Peter’s RFC, a Welsh Rugby Union team currently playing in division two East Central. The club plays their home games at the Harlequins Playing field, located off New Port Road.
