Blacks Power Football Club travelled over 700 kilometres by road to honour their 2025-26 FUFA Big League fixture away to Kigezi Home Boyz in Kabale, South West of the country.
Before the game, they needed a point or an outright victory to be assured of promotion to the top-flight football division in Uganda’s football pyramid.
Sadly, they did not get the point, nor the victory, as Kigezi Home Boyz won 2-0 at the Al Madina Sports Arena.
Dominic Abonga, a mid-season acquisition, scored a second-half brace.
The result notwithstanding, Blacks Power still got promoted back to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
After matchday 28, both Kigezi Home Boyz and Blacks Power have 51 points apiece.
With two matches to play, the 5th-placed Paidha Blacks Angels can only finish with 50 points at most; only if they win the remaining games.

Already relegated, Mbale Heroes lost 7-0 to Young Elephant Academy at the Elephants Park in Nwoya district.
Ntugasaze had a day earlier defeated Soltilo Bright Stars to make it 47 points as fourth on the table Kataka played to a 1-all draw with Kiyinda Boys away from home.
Elsewhere, Bunyaruguru United hit visiting Iganga United 2-0; Kaaro Karungi edged Wakiso Giants 1-0 in Ntungamo
Nebbi Central and CATDA played to a 1-all draw whilst the epic West Nile derby between Onduparaka and Paidha Black Angels ended goalless.
