Ten-man URA held KCCA in a goalless draw in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Tuesday evening.
KCCA came in the game looking for a victory and pray that Maroons hold Vìpers so that the title chase drags to the final day.
The game started on a slow note as both sides sat deep waiting to react on the opponent’s game plan.
As the clock ticked, James Begisa found himself at the edge of the box but the effort was quickly blocked by Herbert Achayi in the 14th minute.
In the 38th minute, Begisa set up Aliro who beat his markers before firing on goal but KCCA goalkeeper Charles Lukwago made a great save.
At the stroke of the opening stanza, Lukwago failed to deal with a long ball placing the ball in Joseph Ssemujju’s path but the forward’s effort was far from wanted.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Muhamad Ssekkeba made a double brilliant save to deny Joel Sserunjogi’s header and Ashraf Mugume’s rebound from close range.
In the dying minutes, URA right back Justin Opiro was shown a second booking thus leaving URA with a man down.
The point leaves KCCA in the second position with 59 points while URA lie 11th with 28 points after 29 league games.
