All eyes will be in Njeru on Saturday afternoon when Kitara and SC Villa square off in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final on Saturday.

The two sides missed out on league glory at the expense of Vipers and thus the Uganda Cup provides an opportunity to grab silverware.

Both tacticians have spoken with confidence ahead of what promises to be a highly competitive clash between two sides with contrasting styles.

The Royals, winners a season ago after defeating NEC at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku will hope to use their experience in the squad and physical aggression to thwart Villa’s free flowing high tempo football.

To get to the final, Kitara have had a relatively easier path playing each round at home apart from the mandatory round of 64 where top tier sides travel.

Enroute, they have got past premiership sides Entebbe UPPC, 10-time winners Express and last season’s cup holders Vipers.

For Villa, they have faced among others bogey sides Maroons, BUL and URA.

Expect fireworks

Neither team has reported any injuries and suspensions so either coach has a full squad to make a choice.

Kitara will have former Villa players Isa Lumu, Meddie Kibirige, a league winner with Villa, Emmanuel Wasswa and forward George Senkaaba along with assistant coach Wasswa Bbosa facing former bosses.

The quartet alongside Yunus Sibira, Gaddafi Wahab, Patrick Kaddu and Kabon Living are meant to ask the youthful Villa side pertinent questions.

For Villa, the onus is on winger Hassan Mubiru, Patrick Kakande, Frank Ssebuufu and ex-Kitara man Najib Yiga to unlock the usually solid Kitara backline with Raymond Barasa Mangoli and Geoffrey Lubangakene manning the backline flanked by skipper David Owori and Simon Ssemayange.

Victory for Zeljko Kovacevic’s men will deliver a record catching 10th title while Kitara will get their second with a win.

Besides the trophy, a ticket to the Caf Confederation Cup is another motivation for both sides.

In the league clashes, either side won at their home with Kitara edging the contest in Hoima 2-0 having lost 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Kadiba.
