Uganda Premier League side, Express FC, has officially ushered in a new administrative era, announcing the appointment of Becky Cynthia Nakimera as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately.
The announcement, delivered via an official statement shared via the club’s official social media platforms, marks a strategic move by the historic institution to modernise its operations and strengthen its corporate footprint both on and off the pitch.
Nakimera steps into the leadership role at one of Uganda’s most decorated and historic football clubs with a clear mandate: to drive operational efficiency and build a sustainable future for the Red Eagles.
As CEO, she will be responsible for executing the club’s strategic objectives. According to the club’s leadership, her core focus areas will include strengthening corporate governance by elevating accountability, professionalism, and administrative structures within the club.
Nakimera will be tasked to spearhead the club’s commercial expansion by unlocking new revenue streams and expanding commercial opportunities to ensure financial sustainability.
The CEO will equally do all it takes to draw a clear plan for deepening fan and stakeholder engagement by reconnecting with the club’s massive, passionate fanbase and fostering stronger ties with corporate partners.
Looking at matters on the pitch, Nakimera will be tasked equally to empower the technical and administrative teams by bridging the gap between boardroom strategy and pitch performance to cultivate a winning culture.
The Express FC hierarchy has expressed immense optimism regarding Nakimera’s capacity to guide the club through this transitional phase.
“The Board of Directors is confident that Ms. Nakimera’s leadership and vision will play a pivotal role in advancing the Club’s ambitions both on and off the pitch,” noted Chairman Ssubi M. Kiwanuka in the signed statement.
Kiwanuka extended a warm welcome to the new executive on behalf of the board, players, technical staff, and the entire Express FC family, signalling the start of what the club hopes will be a “new era of unity, sustained success, and long-term growth.”
With domestic football increasingly demanding corporate transparency and financial self-reliance, Nakimera’s appointment highlights Express FC’s commitment to matching its rich on-field history with modern, world-class sports management.
