The Walukuba Barbarians have officially unveiled a new playing kit for the remainder of the National 7s.
Walukuba are famously known for their black and yellow jerseys, but at the Kyadondo 7s they’ll be running out in a full grey kit. This development has come 2 Stops into the National 7s, but it is a welcome boost for a team that’s looking for fresh inspiration after winning the Stone City 7s in Jinja, then finishing 4th at the Rujumba 7s just a week after that.
The National 7s defending champions find themselves in Pool B alongside the Rhinos, Victoria Sharks and recent arch-rivals, the Heathens.
Gift Wokorach, who will captain the Jinja side at Kyadondo, noted that it is indeed a tough pool, but as a club, they have set their sights on reaching the final at the bare minimum.
“Any team at Kyadondo, just know we are coming for that trophy, now that we have even been motivated by the new jersey,” remarked Wokorach.
In an impressive development, the Walukuba Titans, who women’s Nationals, are part of the new aesthetic overhaul. The Titans were the surprise package of the 2025 National 7s series, but started off this year’s campaign in 5th place at the Stone City 7s, but greatly improved at the Rujumba 7s by coming within 5 points of Nile Rapids in the final.
Donning their new threads at the Kyadondo 7s will inspire players like Hope Mulonde and Sarah Kirabo to step up and go for a maiden circuit win since Titans’ debut last year.
Despite the Titans losing a few players to the ongoing East Africa Schools’ Games in Tanzania, they still have a good enough squad to challenge for the Kyadondo 7s title against traditional powerhouses like the Thunderbirds and Avengers.
The new Walukuba kit was designed and produced by AS Africa, the same manufacturers behind Heathens’ new legacy kit for the 2026 National 7s series.
