URA FC are in talks with experienced coach Sam Ssimbwa over a possible return to the club as head coach, according to Swift Sports.
The Tax Collectors are considering a change in the technical dugout following a disappointing start to the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League campaign under Jimmy Kintu Mwera.
URA have managed just one win in their opening six league matches, leaving them 15th on the table with four points.
Ssimbwa, who has been without a coaching job since leaving his role as Uganda Cranes assistant coach in November 2025, is understood to have held discussions with the club over a possible return.
The experienced tactician previously managed URA between 2018 and 2021, guiding the club to a second-place finish in the 2020/21 season as Express FC claimed the league title.
A return to the tax collectors would mark another chapter in Ssimbwa’s long coaching career, having previously handled several clubs in Uganda and across the region.
His past assignments include Express FC, where he won the 2011/12 Uganda Premier League title, KCCA FC, SC Villa, Kitara FC, Tusker FC, Mbale Heroes, Simba SC, Masaka FC, the defunct SC Victoria University and Sofapaka, among others.
URA will be hoping to turn around their fortunes as they seek to climb the league table and restore consistency in their performances.
However, discussions are still ongoing, with the club yet to officially confirm a change in the technical leadership.
