Uganda’s Gloria Anna Muzito continued her impressive international swimming campaign with a second-place finish in the women’s 100m Freestyle at the ongoing Hungarian Short Course National Championships in Kaposvár.
Muzito, Uganda’s national record holder in the women’s 100m freestyle, clocked 53.49 seconds to secure silver in the A final on Wednesday, November 4, finishing just 0.59 seconds behind Hungary’s Panna Ugrai, who won the race in 52.90 seconds.
Representing Uganda under the Stipendium Hungaricum programme, the 24-year-old produced a competitive performance in a strong eight-swimmer final, finishing ahead of the Netherlands’ Angelina Rolman, who touched the wall in 54.59 seconds to claim third place.
Muzito started strongly, recording a reaction time of 0.68 seconds before completing the first 50 metres in 25.72 seconds. She covered the second half of the race in 27.77 seconds to register her final time of 53.49 seconds.
Her silver medal adds another encouraging result to what has been a busy period for the Ugandan swimmer, who recently returned to Uganda to compete at the Africa Aquatics Zone III Championships.
At the regional competition, Muzito collected a number of medals, contributing to Uganda’s campaign before returning to Hungary to continue her swimming commitments.

Her appearance at the Hungarian championships is another opportunity to test herself against some of the country’s leading swimmers while maintaining the competitive form that has established her as one of Uganda’s leading female freestyle swimmers.
The XXII Hungarian Short Course National Championships are taking place at Virágfürdő in Kaposvár, started on November 4 and will run until November 6, giving Muzito further opportunities to compete as the three-day competition continues.
