Kawempe Muslim have progressed to the semifinals of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, after defeating USFAS Bamako 3-0 in their final group B game on Sunday.
The Valley Warriors eased past the Malian outfit thanks to goals from Agnes Nabukenya (brace) and Jovia Nakagolo.
Group B headed into the final group games with a lot of permutations and indeed they played out until the final whistle.
Ampem Darkoa of Ghana arrived on Sunday with six points and a point would have been enough to see them sail through as leaders.
Kawempe Muslim and AS FAR on the other end had to win, to stand any chances of advancing.
Kawempe Muslim did their task quite easy and with AS FAR leading 1-0 into stoppage time, the Valley Warriors were top due to a better goal difference.
At that moment, Kawempe Muslim was level on points with both AS FAR and Ampem Darkoa and because head to head is considered, they three teams in contest were all level.
The next tie breaker would be goal difference which had all the three teams on zero goal difference.
However, when AS FAR scored, they moved to +1, Kawempe remained on zero goal difference while Ampem Darkoa dropped to third place on -1.
After the final whistle, Kawempe Muslim players and bench looked dejected only to receive the news that they had qualified.
The results mean, defending Champions AS FAR top Group B and will face Lekie of Cameroon who came second in Group A.
Kawempe Muslim on the other hand will take on two-time winners Mamelodi Sundowns who led Group A with seven points.
The semifinal games are slated for Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt.
