Resilient Uganda Netball She Cranes succumbed to a 49-47 loss at the hands of Wales in their third and last Pool D encounter to finish second and captain Peace Proscovia says it was a disappointing result, but for the support and God who saw them through, there is something to be grateful about.

The She Cranes opened with a massive 74-38 victory against Zambia on day one and the incredible 61-40 over Fiji in the subsequent fixture, then fell to a 49-47 loss. Peace believes on top of the great support down in Sydney, God had a hand in the last result ahead of the quarters.

“It was so unfortunate that we lost the game but i believe it was just according to the will of God,” she told Netball World Cup media. “The Crowd was so wonderful, they supported us up to the end of the game.”

The loss indeed must have been a blessing in disguise because the She Cranes avoided facing the tournament hosts, favourites and top ranked Australia plus another netball giant, England.

The East African side will now face Malawi, New Zealand and Jamaica in Pool E. Malawi who made a century against Sri Lanka and New Zealand who defeated hosts, Australia are the other teams that have clean records in the tournament so far having completed unbeaten in their first pools.
