SC Victoria University 2-1 URA FC

SC Victoria University inflicted the first defeat to URA FC in the 2015-16 season coming from a goal down to win 2-1 at Namboole.

The Tax Collectors started well and got in front as early as the fifth minute thanks to Frank Kalanda goal off Yayo Lutimba after a foul on right back Julius Ntambi.

However, the hosts regrouped with Coach Hussein Kheri making an early substitution introducing Patrick Mbowa for Asuman Alishe and fully settled in the game and this paid off in the 20th minute when Sam Sekitto brought down enterprising Farouk Kawooya inside the area and referee Rajab Bakasamba pointed to the spot.

Ex-KCCA and SC Villa midfielder Titus Lubega made no mistake but sent goalie Brian Bwete the wrong way to put the game level.

In the second half, URA FC pressed for a winner with Moses Basena bringing on Peter Lwasa, Erukana Nkugwa and Feni Ali for Sam Sekitto, Said Kyeyune and Yayo Lutimba respectively but it was SC VU that got the much needed goal with three minutes to go.

A well-constructed counter attack saw Nicholas Kagaba through ball beat the entire URA FC defence with Kawooya getting at the end of it and peeled off the goalie before slotting home.

The win lifts SC Victoria University to 6th on the table with nine points while URA FC drop to 10th with a pointless.

REACTIONS:

Hussein Kheri (SC Victoria University Assistant Coach):

“It was a good performance from the boys and the perfect response after losing to Lweza painfully last week. Sixth on the table is good but we would have loved to be higher on the table.
