Ahead of the 2016 Uganda Muslim Solidarity games during the Easter holidays, the Masaka S.S head teacher, Hajji Musa Musoke Mpungu has expressed readiness to host the games.

Musoke, together with the games’ local organizing committee on Monday conducted a guided tour of facilities that will be used at the six day event in Masaka.

Masaka S.S head teacher, Hajji Musa Musoke Mpungu led the journalists and other committee members on the tour.

Among the facilities inspected were the games village (accommodative and administrative amenities), medical units, main hall (screening center), results tally center and the playing facilities.

Everything has been set and we are ready to host the 2016 UMEA Games.

All the facilities have been well set and are ready to be used.

Masaka S.S as a model school in the region has always been yearning for this chance.

Academically, we are now ranked 5th in the whole country.

We are the East  African football champions and Copa Coca Cola national runners up”

After the tour, there was a special press conference held at the Masaka S.S main hall.

Chairperson of the UMEA organizing committee, Hajji Twahlil Kitezeela appreciated all the stake holders that have been pertinent in the entire organization of a successful tournament thus far.

We thank the tournament sponsors, participating schools, national federations (provide technical expertise and referees) and the media for the publicity of the games.

The referees shall be given by national sports federations who are our key partners in this noble cause.

At least 75 teams in women football, boy’s football, volleyball (boys and girls), handball (boys and girls) and netball from the different schools are expected to attend.

Several playing grounds will be used at the six day championship.

Handball, netball and Volleyball will be played within the school premises.

Football will be held at the Masaka Recreational stadium, Nyendo Kasana, University play-ground, Gayaza, St Henry’s Kitovu, Arena ground near Kitovu and Kijjabwemi play-ground.

The inspection team also had Hajjati Aisha Male Iga (Chairperson Loc), Hajji Ahmed Mukiibi (Director of administration, Masaka S.S), Hussein Lwembawo (Secretary Umea Organizing Secretary), Meddie Ssempijja Sserunjogi (Director of Sports, Masaka S.S).

Last year, the tournament was held by Kasawo S.S and Kibuli S.S are the defending champions.
