Many tipped Heathens to ease through the 2016 season and defend the National Rugby Premiership title. But Kobs, their eternal foes, had different ideas.

Not even the absence some key players Justin Kimono, Ronald Musajjagulanyago and Scot Oluoch could stop the Brian Odong-led brigade as they sailed to win the team’s 13th title.

After being confirmed winners last weekend, captain Odong has revealed to Kawowo Sports that team work was a key factor in their triumph.

We played as a team and that gave us the edge.

Kobs defeated Toyota Buffaloes on Saturday to win the title with a game to spare and their only target in Saturday’s fixture will be to finish the season unbeaten.

In all their 17 games, Kobs have been perfect and are yet to lose a game. They won the tough games and ripped aside their lesser opponents throughout the season.

“We are working hard for the last game and of course we want to win it,” Odong revealed after the Buffaloes game.

Meanwhile Heathens coach Robert Sseguya believes the team that deserves to win the title will be seen this Saturday when the two giants meet at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Kobs defeated Heathens 28-27 in the first round at Legends and Heathens will be out for revenge.
