Uganda will have its flag flown for the nation’s first representative at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Kennedy Katende ahead of his fight against Great Britain’s Joshua Buatsi on Sunday in the Men’s light heavy 81 kg boxing round of 32.

Katende – who qualified for the 2008 Olympics in the light-heavyweight division – will showcase all he’s got as the citizens of the Pearl of Africa cheer him to the next round.

His opponent; 23-year-old Josua Buatsi is a Ghanaian-born British boxer who has quickly risen through the ranks after beating Ukraine’s Oleksandr Khyzhniak in his semifinal at the 2016 European Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Samsunand.

He also overcame Dutch boxer Peter Müllenburg in the final of the light-heavyweight tournament to secure his place in Rio as part of the Great Britain team.

Katende has often based in Sweden where he built his career and even represented the country at the Beijing Games in 2008. He comes with Bronze from the All-Africa Games that took place in Congo Brazzaville.
