Even though she did not qualify for the finals of the women’s 800m, she left the track with her head held high.
Many have failed on the road to the games, several slipped and failed to qualify, but her trip to the bustling city of Rio, WOW!!.. it has been.
Ugandan runner Halima Nakaayi feels her dreams partly came true and even though “Qualification was hard,” she impressed overall.
The 21-year-old set a new personal best of 1:59.78 in her first appearance at the games and later posted her second best in semifinal one on Friday morning.
Despite relinquishing her lead by the bell, Niyonsaba – winner of IAAF World Indoor Championships Portland 2016 – taking over to pass the 400m mark in 59.30, Halima feels she has was one the highlights in her career.

In a nut shell, her performance in the South American City can be summed up as one worth remebering after she led her heat to post better time she has never run before.
