Isaac Mukasa, a sports journalist working with a city radio, Voice of Africa has composed a cheer song for the Uganda Cranes.

The four minute fast paced song is titled ‘Uganda Cranes Tulumbe’.

Mukasa is a vivid die hard supporter of the Uganda Cranes who attests the only reward that the national team deserves is the cheer song which he composed in a space of five days.

I came up with this song because I am die hard Uganda Cranes fan, a true fanatic and nationalistic citizen.

Besides, I want to motivate the players and appreciate everyone’s efforts including the former players in the struggle

The lyrics in the cheer song embed a prophetic, appreciative and courageous message with a catchy chorus ‘Mujje Tulumbe Its our Time…’

It is one that encourages fans to go one and watch the national team.

The song is built on an afro beat tempo with fans whistling in a chanting way at the stadium.

Tulumbe, Tulumbe, Uganda Cranes Tulumbeeeee.

Uganda Cranes Oyee, Cranes Oyee… Its been a torrid time, everyone saying we failed. But we are finally there, everybody very proud

He goes ahead to hint on some of the current players like Dennis Onyango, Denis Iguma, Godfrey ‘Jajja Walu, Murushid Jjuuko, Isaac Isinde, Aucho Khalid, Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito, Tonny Mawejje, Kizito, Moses Oloya, Geofrey Massa, Miya, Torres

He hints on the generational greats since Uganda Cranes last appearance at the 1978 finals in Ghana as Sadic Wassa, Paul, Ssemugabi, Engineer Nkemba, Ssekajja, Paul Nkata, Sam Ssimbwa, Jackson Mayanja, Majidu Musisi, David Obua, Hassan Mubiru and Steve Back among others.

I thank all those players who have tried all along. It has been a real struggle and they are all heroes for not giving up

In the same song, Mukasa lauds the national team sponsors, the federation, Government of Uganda and the ardent fans who has stood with the team in the good and tempting moments.

Born to Hajji Issa Mukasa and Hajjat Jalia Nagitta in Lweru Village, Buikwe district, Mukasa is staunch football fan, a die hard for two national teams – Uganda Cranes and Italy.

Mukasa performs during a local show

His love for local music dates as far back as 2008 when he first hit the music studios. Between then and now he has produced over ten songs with ‘Fire Wax’ offering the breakthrough in 2010.

I write my own songs but i have been inactive because of the radio sports show and a host of private businesses.

Radio Career:

As young as 10 when he was in primary five, Mukasa had a dream of presenting to the masses on radio.

I remember very well during a class debating session in P.5,  my English teacher and the whole class encouraged me after just three minutes on the floor.

They compared me to the legendary radio and television news anchor Bbale Francis (RIP).

From then, on-wards, i started to follow Bbale myself and wished i could become a radio presenter one day.

So I worked for it.

By secondary school, he was now reporting news for the rest of the students. In the S.4 vacation, he ventured the murky waters of competitive Kampala media market.

FUFA president, Eng. Moses Magogo greets Isac Mukasa on his graduation day

He was successful until when in S.6 when he approached Voice of Africa (VOA) and without hesitation he was given the chance.

I wrote an application letter to the station (VOA) and met a gentleman, Ashraf Ssemwogerere (station manager).

He trusted me and recommended me to the news editors who tasked me to try live radio commentary and i did not disappoint.

He invited me to come back the next day and one time, i was tasked to present on a sports show when my senior (Katende Malibu) had traveled for the Hedex Cup.

Listeners loved my presentation, articulation of facts and eloquency and yearned for my voice more and more.

The rest between then and now is history.

Mukasa, a graduate of Human Resource management dedicates the song to all current and former Uganda Cranes players as well as his six young old son, Issa Mukasa ‘Johninoh’ Junior.

With humbleness, he calls upon the ever passionate football family to turn up in big numbers for the crucial qualifier against Comoros.

I have the belief and this is why i sang, this is the time. I call upon everyone to have the belief and cheer the players to victory

Like Mukasa asserts Tulumbe, Uganda Cranes Tulumbe on 4th September 2016 at Namboole for the historic day.
