Proline striker Nelson ‘Nelly’ Senkatuka expressed his delight after helping his team beat Kirinya-Jinja SSS 1-0 on Tuesday at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The striker had a couple of opportunities to give his side the lead in the first stanza, but it was his second half strike that separated the two sides as Proline pocketed their first three points at home this season.
The former KCCA man spoke of his delight at scoring the lone goal.
“I must say it was not an easy match,” he commented after the game. “We knew they needed the win but we needed it more and I’m happy we came out on top.”
“It feels so good to especially score the winning goal.”
Having shut out their opponents twice this season, Proline kept their third clean sheet on Tuesday. The striker, particularly impressed by goalkeeper Nasser Lwamunda’s calmness thought they exhibited confidence at the back.
“I thought we showed great character and confidence at the back. We had our second choice goalkeeper in goal but we did well. He was calm the entire game.”
Tuesday’s goal was Senkatuka’s second this season having found his season opener against his former employers on Saturday.
The striker who scored four goals last term at KCCA has vowed to help his new team survive the relegation fight by scoring at least a goal in each of the remaining league matches.
“I’ve not really set the target for this season but I want to keep scoring. I want to score atleast a goal in each game.”
His goal earned Proline their second victory this season as they dislodged Police from the 12th position.
