Michael Olunga scored a brace as Kenya overcame visiting DR Congo 2-1 in an international friendly at Machakos on Sunday.

Gael Kakuta netted the visitors’ only goal, a would be equaliser turned consolation in a highly entertaining game.

Olunga put the Harambee Stars in the lead as early as six minutes getting at the end of Johanna Omollo ball as the Stars took a first half lead.

Fifteen minutes after the break, former Chelsea forward Gael Kakuta equalised with a beauty of a free kick that left Boniface Olouch with no option but it took just eleven minutes for Olunga, celebrating his 23rd Birthday, to put hosts back into the lead.

The goal meant Olunga got his 14th goal in 26 caps for the national team with three of those against, DR Congo, a side he punished in the 1-0 win in the reverse fixture last year.

Olunga’s goal also means he has scored three goals in two games after he also netted against Uganda Cranes on Thursday.
