Deliverance Church Uganda begin their 2017 league campaign on Saturday against league debutants Rhino looking to kick start the league strongly.

Having ended the season last term placed second last, the side will hope for a much improved campaign, and that means opening the season strongly.

Deliverance overlooked an opportunity to retain the Weatherhead Open a fortnight ago and gauge their strength when they decided not to take part in the Open. They will battle with the side that was formed this year but one that has a few experienced players that will prove a handful to them.

Winnie Atim, Susan Khainza, Gloria Amony, Vero Atima, Annet Awar are the players Deliverance should specially be wary of. The quintet broke off from Weatherhead Gazelles to form the new club.

Unlike the rest of the team, the quintet has played in the league before and they have beaten Deliverance while still at Weatherhead, so they will be looking forward to doing the same on Saturday.

And if they succeed in overcoming their opponents, they will be recording their first three points in the National Hockey League having lost 3-0 to Weatherhead in their maiden appearance in the league in the opening weekend.
