Mbarara City coach Vialli Bainomugisha described the hard fought win over Police as very important.

The Ankole Lions beat Police 2-1 on a soggy Kakyeeka pitch on Saturday to end a two match streak without victory.

“I congratulate the boys on the tough win,” he said. “It was a tough game against a well organised and strong Police side but we held on,” he added.

It was very important to grab maximum points after two poor results.

With less than an hour kick off, a heavy downpour saw the pitch flooded especially in one half and Bainomugisha admitted the playing surface wasn’t in good condition.

The surface didn’t help anyone to play but maybe, it was a blessing in disguise for us.

Mbarara City are now on 8 points from six games and visit Soana next at Kavumba on Tuesday.
