Less than six months after labeling his team as the best in the world, Vipers Coach Jorge Miguel Da Costa has described his side as incompetent.

This was in the aftermath of a 2-1 loss to URA despite taking the lead inside four minutes.

Milton Karisa put the Venoms in the lead before goals from Henry Kisekka and Shafik Kagimu swung the game in URA’s favour.

“My team was not competent,” said Da Costa. “Our players can’t put the ball in the net, [something] that can even be done by a 12-year-old boy,” the irked Portuguese added.

Just in case you missed it, here’s Vipers’ coach Diego da Costa addressing the media after his team’s loss to URA FC.

At 1-0, Tonny Odur missed a clear opportunity to double the lead after being through on goal by Karisa but with only the goalkeeper to beat, he took long and the custodian recovered.

Vipers were many peoples’ favourites at the start of the season to lift the crown but Da Costa now thinks otherwise although he reckons it’s still possible

This championship is unpredictable and anything can still happen. Last time we lost to KCCA and then won against Jinja. KCCA not won again so its still in sight. Good enough, we host most of the direct competitors here in the second round. But if we play with the commitment we have had today, then it will be tough

Vipers are now eight points off the log and lie 5th with 20 points from 12 games.
