Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) representatives finished third at the 2018 Championships of African Nations (CHAN) tournament.
Sudan beat Libya 4-2 during a tense post match penalty shoot out in the third place play off match played at Marrakech stadium on Saturday.
Normal time had ended one goal apiece before the extra added thirty minutes remained all square.
Walaa Mohamed gave Sudan the lead in the 7th minute following a great header past goalkeeper Mohamed Nashnush from Taher Elhag’s cross on the right.
Second half substitute Salem Ablo found the equalizer for the Meditteranean Knights in the closing stages of the game (7 minutes from full time).
There was no break through in the added thirty minutes before penalties separated the two sides.

Goalkeeper Akram El Hadi was the hero with two saved two penalties.
Akram saved the kicks of Elmehdi Elhouni and Ablo.
Meanwhile, Taher, Atahir Babikir, Ahmed Mahmoud and substitute Abdelrahman Maaz scored for the Desert Hawks coached by former Gor Mahia head coach Zdravko Logarusic.
Libyan duo Moftah Taktak and substitute Abdelsalam Alaqoub converted their kicks.
Sudan was fourth when they hosted the competition in 2011.
