Kibuli Secondary School’s woes as an institution continue to escalate this year with a one year ban from the Kampala Region Schools Games and Sports Association (KRSGSA) over efforts to abort a semi-final clash between Kawempe Muslim and Old Kampala at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
For starters, angry Kibuli S.S players and non playing staff led by the games master Abdul Nankaalya stormed the Namboole outside playing field to halt the progress of Kawempe Muslim and Old Kampala’s semi final match because they reasoned they had a petition which had to be given attention first.
This prompted the organizers to call in policemen who arrived moments later on a police patrol vehicle.
The officers calmly spoke to the Kibuli S.S players and some teachers but no agreement was reached as they held firm to their decision, disrupt the match.
Despite the attempts by the organizers to have the match played inside the main stadium, Kibuli students and teachers still moved there.
The organizing committee of Kampala has thus passed the verdict publicly with the media and copies to the Copa schools championship national chairman, Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association, ASSHU and Makindye District.
“With disappointment, i inform you that your boys’ football team has been banned for one year…” read part of the strongly worded letter.
Relatedly, two teachers Abdul Nakaalya Nsubuga and Erisa Kasujja have been banned for life from sporting activities.
The letter, signed by the Region general secretary, Ayub Khalifa, from Kawempe Muslim S.S explains that the aggrieved parties have a right to appeal.

The latest development conveys a plight situation through which the most successful school in the Copa schools football championship is undergoing.
Early this year, the school head master Ali Mugagga was sent on a forced leave over alleged issues of sexual harassment to students as investigations commenced.
Adding insult to injury, on Saturday evening, Kibuli S.S students were involved in an accident on the way to a school study trip.
Between January and April 2018, it has been turmoil at the school administratively with factions pointing accusing fingers to one another.
This has impacted for the worst to school’s academic and sporting once enviable prowess.
In the recently concluded 2018 UMEA Games held at Nkoma S.S in Mbale, Kibuli lost the boys and girls football finals, fell short in the netball final but managed to win handball and badminton titles.
Here is the attached letter:

During the 2017 Copa national finals in Masaka gun shots had to be fired in the air to disrupt rowdy fans and charged up Kibuli players against Masaka S.S at the Masaka Recreational stadium.
In the fateful match, played on 18th May 2017 at Masaka Recreational Stadium, Kibuli finished the game with 9 men following red cards by referee Ashraf Miiro to Fred Tabu and Adam Musisi.
Kibuli recovered from a goal down to equalize and take the game into penalties where they won 3-1 to qualify for the semi-finals.
