2017 Busoga Masaza Football Tourney:

Butembe Ssaza team is the winner of the 2017 Busoga Masaza Football Championship.
The victors required composed nerves to defeat Bunha 4-3 in tense post match penalties following a one all draw in normal time at the Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe, Jinja.
Francis Pascal gave Butembe an early lead on two minutes as they took a half time lead.
Kosea Wasswa replied in clinical fashion, finding the equalizer, eight minutes into the second stanza of the well-attended finale.
This was the second time in a row that Bunha lost a final after falling 3-1 to Bukooli North during the 2016 final.
As the final whistle came calling, Butembe were the successful side, converting the most kicks from the penalty spot, four to Bunha’s three.

His Royal Highness, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV witnessed the epic clash.
Flanked by the Kingdom Prime minister Joseph Muvawala Nsekere, Sports minister Owek. Amin Bbosa and other Busoga ministers as well as the region members of parliament, the Kyabazinga handed over the main royal shield and gold medals to the triumphant winning team.
Butembe was also rewarded with the lion’s share of the cash prize (Ushs.3M) and bull.
Buganda Kingdom prime minister Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga also graced the final match.

The winning team dethroned Bukooli North who won the inaugural championship.
