40 year old Rogers Byaruhanga carded four over par 76 on the final day of action at the 71st Uganda Amateur Golf Championship at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club course on Saturday at Kitante.
The Johnny come lately golfer registered scores of 65, 76, 77, 76 to end with 294 score and a one stroke lead too win his debut major tournament on his first attempt.
Godfrey Kagyenzi was runner-up with scores of 76,74, 73, 72 and a total of 295 while Henry Lujja was third with 74,72, 77, 75 and 298.
The event was sponsored by Uganda Breweries under their brand Tusker Malt other co-sponsors included Multiple Industries, Dasani, Coca Cola, Monitor, Golf Course Hotel, Monitor and Golf100 magazine.
Kenyan Dismas Ndiza claimed the professionals section with 280 gross while Rwanda’s Emmanuel Ruterana returned with 282 gross to finish runner-up while Deo Akope was third with 283 gross.
