
Top seed Michael Kawooya, faces a stern test when the Castle Lite Open squash championship swings into action tomorrow at Kampala Club.
The former national swimmer now squash player will be seeking is seeking crown at this prestigious event, but will have to beat a strong draw of around 40 players who will be pooled in an Elite group and Group B with players, who lose in the first round dropping to the plate
event.
The Elite group has Kawooya as the top seed others are seed two Brian Okumu, seed three Ian Rukunya Kajubu, seed four Lawrence Matovu, seed five Sam Kyagulanyi, seed six Kadoma Kasirye and seed seven Shai Henkel. “I am looking forward to the action and am ready to retain my crown,” Kawooya said. “It’s a strong field that will be hard to beat, but am ready for an circumstances.”
Group B has Musa Matovu as the top seed others are Robins Muhairwe, seed two, seed three J.B. Tamwesigire, seed four Timothy Kayondo and seed five is Coutts Muhenda.
The ladies top seed is Edith Wamala and seed two is Kate Kabenge.
The tournament is sponsored by Nile Breweries under their brand Castle Lite and will conclude on Saturday with a grand prize giving ceremony at Kampala club.
