Twenty two elite Kenyan athletes enter MTN Kampala marathon

Twenty two elite Kenyan athletes have entered the ninth edition of the MTN Kampala marathon slated for November 27 at Kololo airstrip.

It will be the biggest entry ever for this year’s edition it also has five Ethiopian athletes and a total of 18 Ugandans in the 42 kilometer marathon. “A total of 22 Kenyan elite athletes have entered the marathon which I can say is one of the biggest entries so far,”Data entry manager Michael Niyitegeka said yesterday. “The number could increase by the end of the week, but so far that is what we have so far from the elite athletes.”

Three Kenyans will be battling in the 21 kilometer race, but could also opt for other prizes in the respective races in MTN sponsored marathon.

One of the leading athletes is Stephen Kurui and last year’s winner Jacob  Arapmarich. Uganda’s onslaught will be led by Moses Kibet others include Simon Ayieko, Joseph Nsubuga,Alex Malinga,Michael Mutai,Patrick Cheboto,Benjamin Kiplagat,Martin Toroitich.
