Uganda has been given the nod to host the Pepsi ICC Africa women’s T20 tournament due December 16-20 at Lugogo and Kyambogo cricket ovals.
“We are honoured to be hosting this tournament and it is due to the successful hosting of the ICC Africa Division one tournament in July this year,” Justine Ligyalingi, chief executive officer of Uganda Cricket Association said will announcing the development at Lugogo stadium.”Kenya,Uganda,Namibia,Nigeria,Tanzania and Sierra Leone will participate in the five day tournament which will be played on round robin basis.”
The tournament will be supervised by International Cricket Council Africa regional manager Suliman Cassim and the tournament referee will be Subash Modi from Kenya.
According to Ligyalingi, the tournament is a ranking one and Uganda will be aiming to improve its global ranking which is currently at number four in Africa behind Kenya,Zimbabwe and South Africa in that order.
