Kampala City Council football club have opted not to take part in continental football as they seek to build their side this season.
“The club has decided not to enter as Uganda’s representatives in the Confederations Cup as we believe that it will be a distration to our side,” Ahmed Kabuye, the clubs team manager said. “We have a young team and we are building on it for the future.”
Soccer governing body FUFA had given KCC FC and Victors FC the opportunity to fill the void left by Uganda’s representatives Simba FC.
KCC FC last made appearance in continental football in 2009 where they featured in the lucrative Orange CAF champions league where they ejected fancied sides like Clube Ferroviario de Maputo, Super Sport United of South Africa but failed to make it to the group stages after being eliminated by Sudan giant side El Merrick thus dropping to the CAF Confederations Cup and where eliminated Bayelsa of Nigeria.
KCC lies fifth in the Bell Lager Uganda Super League with 15 points out of ten games.
