No rest for Africa's top badminton player

Africa’s top badminton player Edwin Ekiring, has set his eyes on ending the badminton season on a high when he takes part in the Turkey International that gets underway today in Istanbul.

“It has been a long season for me and it has not ended as yet cause now I have to negogiate the Turkey International. I hope I can end the season with good results,” Ekiring stated. “I will not be resting cause I have to also take part in the Uganda International early next year.”

The Ugandan ace badminton player who recently booked his ticket to next year’s summer Olympics in London lost to Ville Lang of Finland 21-18,21-18 at the Italian International last week.

The All Africa games badminton silver medalist is ranked 98 in the world going into the end of the year and could rise higher after the Turkey International.

He has so far taken part in six tournaments in the later half of the season and has won the Botswana International.
