URA FC get fair Champions League Draw

Tax collectors, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC will yet again represent Uganda in Africa’s top most club football, the CAF Champions league. The USL defending champions will face Lesotho Correctional Services in the preliminary round of the CAF organised event.

URA will first host the Lesotho side in Kampala on 18th February, 2012 before traveling to Maseru on 3rd March. If URA do their work

well, they will face West African side, Djoliba SC from Mali in the first round. The winner will take on Sunshine stars from Nigeria before getting to the group stages.

In 2011, the then league champions, Bunamwaya failed to represent due to financial constraints. The last time URA FC featured, they fell to ZANACO FC, a Zambian side 4-1 in the 2010 preliminaries on aggregate in both legs.

URA coach Alex Isabirye will need the services of his experienced players like Simeon Masaba, league topscorer, Robert Sentongo and Stephen Bengo to leapfrog the Maseru based side. URA lie in 2nd position on 26 points, a point behind table leaders Express with a game in hand. The tax collectors are also the 2nd highest scoring side with 17 goals and they are the only side yet to lose a game in the Bell Uganda super league.
