
The Ladies national cricket team promised more international accolades after capping an extraordinary sporting year for ladies with the Nile Special-USPA sports personality award for the month of December.
This was revealed at the Nile Special-USPA monthly dinner on recently at which the team received a plaque and 500,000 cash prize having triumphed in the Pepsi ICC Africa women’s Twenty20 tournament.
The triumph of the cricket team ensured that this year ladies have won an astounding eight of the 12 Nile Special-USPA monthly personality awards including all six of the previous six months to end a dominant year.
Triple jumper Sarah Nambawa started the run in August,followed by She Cranes-national netball team in September.Rally driver Susan “Super Lady” Muwonge claimed the majority vote in October before golfer Flavia Namakula reigned in November.
The victory of national ladies cricket side elevated the team atop the associate twenty20 seedings in Africa with only South Africa and Zimbabwe, who are test nations,ranked higher.
