In what has been an entertaining game this afternoon at Lugazi Municipal Stadium, Express FC and URA FC shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Erias Ssekisambu gave the Red eagles a 55th minute lead before Bob Kasozi’s own goal in the 86th minute salvaged a point for the league champions.

Express were on the back foot for the first 15 minute after kick off and Robert Ssentongo almost gave the

hosts a lead but shot wide from close range.

However, Ssimbwa’s side regained control of the proceedings later after Makanga John came off for Lutalo Sserunkuma shifting Godfrey Kavulu to the right back. Julius Ogwang, Sekisambu and Lutimba Yayo launched endless attacks then but were lethargic infront of goal but URA FC also had their chances but the deadlock wasn’t broken.

The first half ended goal less despite both sides playing an offense minded game. After recess, Express FC came out the hungrier side and got the deserved lead in the 55th minute when Erias Sekisambu tapped in a Lutimba Yayo cross after dribbling past four URA FC defenders.

Coach Isabirye then introduced Bagala Sula for the inefficient Nsumba Augustine and later Hamis Kitagenda for Said Kyeyune in search for an equalizer but still Express remained the better side scoring on three more occasions though the two were ruled out for genuine offside and the third cancelled for hand ball with Julius Ogwang recieving a booking. The latter two had been scored by Erias Sekisambu.

However, from nothing to something, Benson Ociti’s cross from the left wing was deflected into the net by Express defender Kasozi Bob in the 86th minute for URA FC equaliser.

In the end, the two settled for a draw though Masaba Simon had to make a goal line clearance to deny the visitors taking all three precious points.

Express FC remain on top of the table on 43 points while URA FC slipped to third with 39 points as Bunamwaya leapfrogged them to second on 40 points after winning KCC FC 2-1 at Buikwe.

MAN OF THE MATCH. Kavuma Willy was the architect of Express offensive play. His magic in the midfield is the reason the Red eagles dominated much of the game.

URA FC VERDICT: The tax collectors have now gone three league games in a row with out victory and have only won twice in 6 games in all competitions. Its high time Alex Isabirye’s charges raise their game or else they will continue back slidding on the table.

EXPRESS FC. The Red eagles have maintained their lead at the table despite Bunamwaya closing in. They were the better side for most parts of the game and will feel agrieved after conceding that late own goal but in the end, a point may prove decisive in the title race.
