In what is expected to be an epic encounter at Luzira prisons ground, Maroons FC host Bunamwaya SC in the first leg of the Bell Uganda Cup semi-finals. The Prisons side reached the stage after eliminating regional league side Kireka Utd on spot kicks while Bunamwaya SC beat Police FC 4-2 at Buikwe.
Coach Asaph Mwebaze will still be without skipper Martin Mpuga who is out injured and leading marksman George Abege is doubtful after picking
a knock during the National U-20 training sessions and eventually missed the Mozambique game. U-20 international midfielder Alex Tuliraba is expected to run the show in the middle of the pack along side Maxwell Okello. Brian Kisuju, Brian Akena and Peter Otai are expected to lead the hunt for goals.
On the other hand, apart from Simon Sserunkuma who is ruled out of the tie, Edward Golola has all the players at disposal to make a choice. Little or no changes are expected in the team that started against Police FC. Hamza Muwonge is expected to maintain his role between the poles assisted by Edward Ssali and Robert Sseku at the heart of defence while U-20 international Nicolas Wadada and Godfrey Walusimbi are to man the right and left side of defence respectively.
Captain Robert Kimuli, Hakim Ssekumba and fans favorite Mpande Joseph are expected patrol the midfield.On form Ceaser Okhuti is expected to lead the forwards in a three man attack helped by Tony Odur and dribbling master Luwagga Kizito. Martin Muwanga and Edgar Luzige are expected to start on the bench.
The last time Maroons played in the semis of this cup was in 1980s when they were ejected by KCC FC while Bunamwaya SC were eliminated by SC.VILLA in 2009 at this stage on a 2-1 aggregate. Villa won the first leg 2-0 at Nakivubo before losing 1-0 in the return leg at Namboole. Both teams will aim at getting a decent result that they will build on when the two teams meet in the return leg at Buikwe on Saturday this week.
