Proline can win title - Anthony Bongole

Anthony Bongole believes Proline have what it takes to win the 2011/2012 title if they win their remaining six games. The former KCC FC striker is coming off an impressive hatrick against Hoima – Busia when his club registered an 8-1 win on tuesaday.

Speaking to www.prolinesocceracademy.com Bongole believes that if Abdallah Mubiru’s troops keep playing the way they are, there are chances of staging a late challenge for the title. “Mathematically, I think we stand a chance (of winning the league) because we have played well against the so-called big teams in the title chase.”

“We had a slow start to the season, drawing many games in the first round. We had a problem of not scoring and our performances became increasingly disjointed. It took us up to the second round to pick up a winning streak, but once we got our groove, it’s hard to stop us now,” Bongole said. Bongole is also proud of young players like Wadri William and Kidega Andrew getting their chances and scoring goals.

Kadogo is the club’s leading scorer with nine, eight of which came under Mubiru. “All we need is to work hard and keep focused, we should not get carried away by this winning run,” he warned. Proline has collected four points against Express FC, four against SC Villa, plus a sweet first round victory over KCC. Only Bunnamwaya managed double victories over Proline.

Express leads the 16 team log with 44 points with only six rounds remaining for them. Holders URA are second on 42 points with 20 games played for them.
Bunnamwaya comes third, having gathered 40 points from 21 games. With seven games left, Proline, who currently occupy fourth place on 39 points still have a chance to collect a maximum of 21 points to make it 60, a feat Bongole believes is achievable. “In football you can never say never, if you don’t have a positive mind then it’s better you quit the game because it’s full of twists and turns,” he reasoned.
