Charity snare first League win

National Women’s Cricket League Results: Charity TF 201/10 Gayaza HS 110/10- Lugogo

Defending champions, Charity Trust Fund started the National Women’s League title defence with a sounding 91-run victory over this year’s Girls’ cricket week runners-up, Gayaza High at Lugogo on Saturday.

Barbrah Mukankusi’s 50 off 54, Ritah Nyanyendo’s 22/21 (not out) and 79 bowling extras pushed Charity

who had lost the toss to 201 runs in 38.3 overs despite stringent bowling from Gertrude Namulondo (3/36) and Faimah Konso (2/37).

Left hand batsman, Lelia Namaganda had 39/73 but it did not help Gayaza reach the target (202) and they collapsed with 11.5 overs to go.  “We wanted to them out before they could get to the 50-run mark” said Mukankusi, Charity wicket keeper.
