Tornado survive Jinja den in Women's cricket league

Tornado 37/10 JACC 19/10

Tornado survived a shock at Jinja oval on Saturday in the National Women’s league tier match after remarkable bowling from JACC’s Damalie Busingye (4/12), Prico Nakitende (3/18) and Racheal Ntono (3/4); all from Jinja SS, 2012 Girls’ Pepsi Schools’ cricket winners had restricted them to 37 runs in only 12.5 overs.

But Franklyn Najjumba’s side managed to protect their low score to beat JACC by 18 runs with Tornado captain, Consy Aweko picking five wickets in the process.  “We are happy we picked the result. Protecting that low score is not easy in any 50-over gam.” said Najjumba who posted 16/18(not out).

“Jinja is not an easy place to go.” she added.  Nine of JACC’s batsmen did not make a single run.
