A section of Villa fans who are opposed to director of football Joseph Kanaaba and Coach Mike Mutebi have threatened to boycott Villa games until Club President, Fred Muwema meets them. This comes in the wake of Thursday’s incidents that saw two of their fans arrested by police for threatening to beat up Mutebi if he doesn’t leave what they refer to as their club.
Samson Nsubuga a.k.a Miracle and Ssembajja Medi a.k.a Katanyonta were the fans arrested and charged at Nsambya Police station. The duo along with many
others are alleged to have planned to frustrate Mutebi by disrupting the team’s training. However, they were later released on Friday and managed to watch Villa’s 2-0 win over rivals KCC FC contrary to what the management had said in the press conference held on Tuesday.
The club had banned the duo, together with Sula Sseguya who is alleged to be on the run from attending and being part of any club activity. After the KCC FC game, that section fans told the media they had decided to quit the Villa games until Muwema meets them. “We love the club. Two people can’t force us to hate it. Imprisonment of our colleagues is like sending us away”, said a female fan.
“May be Kanaaba is getting other fans to cheer the club in the stands and thats the police men. How can you imprison a fan because he is passionate about Villa”, they lamented.
DRAMA
There was drama at the Nakivubo’s main gate after the end of the game as these fans told a passing Mike Mutebi to back-off their club. They went on to display their membership in his vicinity indicating how far they are attached to the club while others shouted of how he belongs to rivals KCC FC and not Villa. Kawowo sports’ effort to talk to Muwema were futile but we shall keep you posted on whatever unfolds.
