The two-day Eastern Africa Youth Athletics Championship meet that ended on Saturday at Namboole might not only have revealed a new crop of talent but also future Olympic medals winners for Uganda. National talent development coordinator, George Palanda sighted hopes in some of the athletes who graced the weekend event.
“I am hopeful our high jump athlete, Godfrey Kidega will sprout in the future” he said. Kidega who won bronze in high jump, was among the seven athletes who were got
from the National Primary Athletics championships held in Mbarara recently. Uganda had last hosted this event in 2001. The previous edition was hosted in Asmara, Eritrea two years ago.
