Najjumba tears Charity apart

National Women’s Cricket League result

Charity 91/10 (54) Tornado 55/2

Tornado’s Franklyn Najjumba led an assault that handed her side an eight wicket win over Charity Trust Fund in the National Women’s cricket league game at Lugogo. On winning the toss, Charity opted to bat and set 91 in 46.1 overs for the loss of ten wickets. Sharon Athoula (18) and Mary Nalule (10) managed double figures. Hard hitter, Barbra Mukankusi faced an early exit from the crease with less than five overs into the innings.

Najjumba, Christine Aryemo and Gloria Adubu picked two wickets in the 46.1 overs. Their captain, Consy Aweko also had respectable bowling statistics (1/11 in 10 overs). A soggy outfield forced the Duckworth method that gave Tornado a new revised target of 54.

Najjumba and Aryemo hit 11 and 20 respectively that pushed Tornado to the league summit on 18 points, not forgetting the 20 bowling extras. “Its great we won the game. The game seemed to be nerve-wracking at the final bend” Najjumba said after steering her side. Tornado are now unbeaten in three and have collected maximum points.
